Introduction
Sarah Egerton (née Fyge, 1670-1723) published principally two volumes of poems, The Female Advocate (London, 1686) and Poems on Several Occasions (London, 1703), which in some measure reflect her grievances not only about the contemporary state of women but also about her two less than ideal marriages. No manuscripts by her are known to survive.
